ASTK experiences second-quarter setbacks despite strong first-half sales growth<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Aircraft parts specialist ASTK announced on the 14th that its cumulative sales for the first half of the year (January to June) reached 120.8 billion won, with an operating profit of 2.5 billion won. Compared to the same period last year, sales increased by 64%, and operating profit successfully transitioned to a surplus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, looking only at the second quarter of this year (April to June), it recorded an operating loss of 3.4 billion won and a net loss of 8.2 billion won. This is due to the upfront research and development expenses being processed at once related to the delivery of the initial aircraft for the cargo aircraft modification project (IAI B777 P2F) last June, as well as accounting expenses reflected from inventory evaluation losses at the end of the half-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ASTK expects to benefit from the expansion of Boeing\u2019s commercial aircraft production and the positive trends in the defense institutional sector. ASTK is responsible for the production of aircraft structural components and rear fuselage, participating in Boeing’s supply chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Reuters, Boeing’s commercial aviation sector continues to achieve stable contract performance despite the Trump administration’s volatile trade policies. Kelly Ortberg, who became the CEO of Boeing in August of last year, positively impacted by collaborating with the government to enhance Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifications and new aircraft development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In particular, it has been assessed that confidence in the commercial sector has recovered due to the recent large-scale wide-body aircraft orders from Qatar Airways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is also great growth potential in the defense institutional sector. Boeing is currently revitalizing military aircraft projects based on medium and large platforms, such as the E-8 (early warning aircraft) and P-8 (anti-submarine patrol aircraft), while normalizing production of the 737 MAX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ASTK is reportedly laying the groundwork for expanding military aircraft parts contracts by accumulating experience in supplying defense-related parts through its contract for C390 military transport aircraft parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, ASTK plans to diversify its business portfolio through new projects such as the cargo aircraft modification project and the development of the Embraer C390 in search of medium-to-long-term growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An ASTK official noted, “The new projects, including the successful delivery of the initial aircraft for the IAI B777 P2F project and the development of the Embraer C390, will accelerate revenue growth,” adding that “with the integrated logistics warehouse completed last year and the newly introduced machinery and equipment now operating normally, profitability will significantly improve through production stabilization and enhanced efficiency.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
