ASTK (067390), an aircraft parts manufacturer, has surpassed 1,000 units in deliveries of the aft fuselage for the Boeing 737.
On October 16, ASTK announced that it held a ceremony the day prior at its Jongpo Plant in Sacheon, Gyeongsangnam-do to commemorate the delivery of the 1,000th unit of “Section 48,” a key component of the Boeing 737 that the company has been supplying since the initial delivery in November 2012. The ceremony was attended not only by ASTK executives and employees but also by key representatives from its customer, Spirit AeroSystems.
Last year, ASTK signed a supply contract with Spirit AeroSystems worth approximately USD 850 million (approximately KRW 1.18 trillion).
Section 48 is a core component of the aft fuselage of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and is a high-value part that plays a critical role in altitude and directional control. ASTK, having proven its capabilities in ultra-precision machining and strict delivery schedules, is the only company in South Korea supplying this part to Boeing.
An ASTK representative stated, “As the global demand for passenger aircraft is clearly recovering, Boeing, which is currently in the process of acquiring Spirit AeroSystems, is also expected to increase aircraft production volume.” They added, “The schedule and volume of key components such as Section 48 are also likely to rise.” Furthermore, the representative noted, “Not only will ASTK benefit directly from the global aviation industry’s turnaround, but also from Boeing’s recovery, given that it is the world’s largest aircraft manufacturer.”
